You can ride it on asphalt and then go for an off road ride, discovering urban parks, pinewoods and the countryside surrounded by nature.

The Eskute Voyager eBike has a powerful brushless hub motor with 250 W power, capable of letting you climb steepest slopes. The power system ensures a long trip distance, because it’s powered by a lithium removable and integrated battery with 480 Wh.

It has a large LCD display that shows you the battery level, speed, chilometers etc.. You can switch between 5 different assistance modes during the PAS assistance: 1 mode helps you until 15 km/h, 2 mode till 20 km/h, 3 reach the max speed of 25 km/h and with 4 and 5 you add extra torque for a faster help.

If you’re pushing the bike by foot you can turn on the Walk assist mode, that will push the bike forward, to help you during uphills.

Voyager bike can be used as well as a standard bike without the engine help, in the 0 mode you can pedal with “human power“. Otherwise you can connect the accelerator that comes as extra that you can easily connect, for a full electric mode like a scooter.

Eskute Voyager: Frame and components

The frame is made with light and strong aluminium that fits 27,5″ wheels and a fork with 100 mm of travel: the for can be locked.

Drivetrain is a reliable Shimano 7 speed drivetrain that’s easy to use and enought for the intended use. Voyager comes with a couple of mechanical disc brakes that ensure enough power to stop the bike: two steel 160 mm rotors.

Plus it’s packed with urban accessories like front LED light, strong horn and bike stand. As extra you get a couple of extendable mudguards and safety reflectors.

Eskute Voyager: entry level ebike for leisure

The technical specifications of the Eskute Voyager clearly place it among the entry level vehicles that are suitable and recommended especially for those who approach the discipline. This ebike will therefore be tested in an environment suitable for the intended use, although clearly out of curiosity we will try to push it further on the trails, to see how it behaves.

We therefore immediately remember that it is not an eMTB designed to climb the most inaccessible mountains, nor to throw yourself into fast technical descents. In this case you will have to focus directly on other models and invest a much higher budget. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a versatile and easy-to-use electric bike for your outings in the middle of nature, with the Voyager you will have a valid candidate to start.

The Eskute Voyager is in fact excellent for urban environments and for trips outside the city, for walks in parks, in the woods, in the hilly areas that alternate ups and downs and so on.

Pakaging and frame

Let’s start with his unboxing, on which I can give a highly positive opinion. Packaging is well cared and it contain a large amount of reinforcements, that guarantees to the Eskute Voyager adequate support and premium protection. The packaging is first class and far exceeds even what I found on high-end vehicles, so the bike has been delivered well protected and in a perfect shape.

The aluminum frame integrates the battery compartment and as regards its workmanship it is well done, the welds are well cared for and finished as well as the painting. I didn’t expect all this care for a bike in this price range. It could easily be compared to a higher category frame.

The battery compartment is unlocked with the key and with a lateral safety trigger, however initially the battery is not very easy to extract: or rather, as soon as it is unlocked you will have little space to leverage with your fingers to pull it upwards. Once you are familiar with the operation, removal is easier.

We remind you that it mounts an integrated lithium battery that is 48V / 10AH that can be charged directly on the bike or extracted. On the battery we find LEDS that indicate the state of charge. You can keep pressed the little screen and get a colour response: Blue mean full charge, green still with battery, red is low battery and needs to be recharged.

Extra protection and urban accessories

Given the intended use, we also find the cage that protects the gearbox from impacts and the practical side stand as standard. The latter is very comfortable during walks or for those who frequent the beaten trails: otherwise, if you want to attend more challenging trails I recommend you remove both, considering that they could get caught or collide with the rocks causing a fall.

We also find a front LED headlight, a reflector to be mounted on the rear and reflectors placed on the wheels. The LED headlight is powerful and allows you to use the bike even in total darkness.

Eskute Voyager: the trail test

Despite the initial perplexities about the frame geometries, I must say that the riding is very easy and intuitive, the total weight of almost 24 kg makes the Voyager very stable, at the same time the assistance lightens it for the climbs. Uphill you climb with a satisfied smile, as if driven by a pleasant breeze: modes 4 and 5 give a noticeable boost that makes the vehicle fun and playful.

The tires chosen by the manufacturer are knobby but thanks to their shape they are versatile: Kenda tires are smooth on asphalt and offer adequate grip on beaten dirt.

In the trail is flat the bike is light enough to pedal even without the aid of the motor, in fact I kept excellent travel speeds with the assistance blocked on the first level (which we remember assists up to 15 km / h). In fact, the speed in excess exploits only the cyclist’s muscular propulsion.

Battery consumption varies greatly depending on the trail and the assistance mode used. With the first test I squeezed all the different modes playing on sandy trails, uphill and against the wind, so I am well away from 100 km. In this case, with mixed use, I reached about 65 km with the battery running out. With a more careful use of the assistance I am sure that you can go at least up to 80 km, while if you “play and abuse” the assistance, the autonomy drops drastically.

In the first tests the bike performed very well, its reliability in the long term remains to be seen. As already mentioned in the presentation, the Eskute Voyager has a two-year warranty.

Is the Eskute Voyager worth the buy?

After the test I can say that the Eskute Voyager is offered with a very low list price and reflects the premises for which it was proposed and designed. The equipment and functionality are excellent, on the other hand the shortcomings are a poor brake system (if you use in MTB challenging conditions) and a short seat tube that can be replaced with 15 euro.

All in all, with around 40/50 euros you can buy a couple of new Hybrid Brakes and a longer tube winning a truly versatile entry level eMTB.

For its price range, for now it seems to have no rivals, and wins a prominent place as the best economic eMTB under a thousand euros. But keeping in mind that its intended use does not include treacherous mountains or inaccessible trails!

I can therefore recommend it to those who intend to make a moderate and conscious use of it. Ideal for outings with family, friends and beginners.
