Beaches mtb Sardinia, Part One.

Trail in MTB sardinia betwen diferent beaches , discovering different kind of sands. Oristano Area, Sardegna island, Italy.

Trail trought different beaches, all in the Oristano area.

 

Mariermi beach

First of all we start our MTB Sardinia beach trail here, in one of the most beatifull beaches of Sardinia.

The main caratteristic of Maimoni is the strong white colour of the beach; that white is visible far eway from the Sky (from planes), and also coming by the sea with a boat . It have a strong and powerfull white colour, that reflect the bright sun light. It’s easy to get burned in that beach, if no skin protection is used to lie down under the sun.  The sand is made by little quartz grains, the main colour is the white.

Isarutas beach

Then we visit Isarutas, the beach with the most rare and beatifull kind of white sand in Sardegna. The sand is made by little seaschells pices and large quartz stones, in different colours. Those little stones are made by the continuou work of the sea and salt water. Every little pice of quartz need a loot of years to became little and well rounded shaped. Grain of sand are like litle jelly beans and sometimes also in bigger sizes.

It’s also common to find here dry poseidonian gras, that came with the sea, and became dry wiithe the strong sun. It came from the the bottom of the sea, often after bad weather days; the strong force of the water detach some grass from the bottom and bring it in the beach.

Here you can see the size and the beauty of quatrz, in multicolor grains

Give a clooser look to those grains and quartz stones.

Maimoni Beach

After Isarutas, not far away, we pedal our MTB and find Maimoni Beach. It is a white sand beach, here grains are little than Isarutas ones, and they are mixed with thin white sand.Grains are thiner, and the feeling when dig in with your hand, is like to catch a punch of white rice mixed with some flour. It contain also same bigger stones. You can find dry poseidonian during all the year.

The sand is soft and thin, is very difficult to moove some MTB wheels, you just have to pull your bike by hands.

 

Oasi di Seu

Another beach that we must visit is near the protected Seu natural park, here beaches are very little, full of rocks and stones. Its difficult to lie down with a towel, because is not confortable. Here you can find very big roks , also wel rounded, multi colours.

We find here one old spanish costal tower, that dominate all the area.

 

Funtana Meiga Beach

Finaly for part one, we find the beach with soft thin sand, yellow/brown color and poseidonian big blocks. We find a very thin and dusty sand, with a strong yellow/brown and sometimes red colour.

The cost is full of rocks, and beaches are little, cause the sea take away a loot of sand during storms days.

The ground is rich of clay, and covered by mediterranean flora, little plants and flowers.

Here we finish to visit the Funtana Meiga Beach.
